FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01

WHO CAN COME?

Anyone is welcome to join us. If you have an interest in missions or Icelandic culture and history then this is definitely the event for you.

Hope to see you there this Summer!

02

WHERE IS IT?

Skálholt is about a hour and 20 minute drive from Reykjavik. Rooms are shared and bathrooms and showers are down the hall. (Individual rooms are available for an additional fee.)  We will be in Skálholt for the first 5 nights and then in Reykjavík for the last two.

03

WHAT WILL WE DO?

A schedule will be posted in the coming weeks. Mornings will begin with breakfast together followed shortly by classes on Christian history and culture. As part of our learning, we will take advantage of the outstanding historical and cultural sites at Skálholt.  There should be plenty of time to explore the area and enjoy fun options like swimming, horseback riding, hikes, and more.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

04

In the hope that the cost will not prevent anyone from attending, the all inclusive cost is just €765 Euro, $795 USD, 112.350 ISK. This includes transportation from the airport (KEF) to the conference site in Skálholt  on the morning of June 9th and a return trip to the airport on June 16th.  Feel free to contact us with any questions about airport pickup and drop-off.

All accommodations, meals and transportation for day trips is included. You may want some additional money for snacks, souvenirs, or individual activities.

05

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

  • Bring yourself and maybe a friend :), your Bible, something for taking notes

  • Casual clothing is appropriate. Wearing layers will help you stay warm outside and comfortable inside. Layers should include an undershirt, shirt, fleece, jacket or coat (with a waterproof outer shell).  It is often cool in the summer in Iceland and can be overcast, wet and windy. Bring a nice summer outfit just in case it warms up, but, it is recommended to pack mostly for cool, wet weather.

  • For your feet, waterproof or water-resistant shoes are best with several pairs of wool or part wool socks (preferably the "wicking" or quick-dry type)

  • Knit hat and gloves and scarf

  • Swimsuit and towel

  • Chapstick/lip balm

  • Inverter for electrical outlets. (European outlets use a two prong plug different from the US and UK outlets.)

  • Bring a student ID if you have one.
